Default Yahoo Optimization - what does Yahoo look for?

What does Yahoo look for to determine search rankings?

What is different from Google?

I've heard that Yahoo likes RSS feeds

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Hi,
I used to take in account Yahoo optimization but later I understood it is not worth all the efforts. If your site has quite good positions in Google SERPs then it should have good positions in yahoo as well. The only thing I do to optimize our pages for yahoo is SLASH problem. Yahoo uses incorrect urls when a page ends with / and it displays it in SERPs without slash symbol at the end. This can be a problem if you use mod_rewrite (our software for example ).. Anyway, all together we found a solution and now our pages are good for yahoo also
About RSS feeds.. I also read about their positive influence so it would be great if you add some more dynamic content to your pages using RSS.

P.S. I'm not a SEO expert and what I write here is just taken from my own experience

another thing I forgot to mention about.. create Yahoo sitemap. I think it would be better if you have it if there is even little opportunity to increase site positions in serps - we should make it

Wink

Both Yahoo and Google like fresh content (but determine the freshness differently), therefore both like blogs. Yahoo is putting more on freshness that was why you may find a lot of blogs on good positions in Yahoo serps.

Also both are tracking CTR. Yahoo is doing this for years.
Don’t waste time clicking on your URL in serps, it will not help.
They know that is the site owner is clicking.

BTW here is simple optimization technique.
Maybe you guys already heard about it, but it was never used for Yahoo just for Google. It can work for Yahoo as well.

The principle is simple. Just send an email to the people who higher than you in serps and ask them to remove their site.

Look here – live example.
