Welcome to our forum, ines seefeldt. Have you changed default charset for pages to German charset?

Hi,
couldn't that not be all just all UTF-8 ... ? That would handle chinese, Thai etc. |

Hi Nick,
Quote:
I guess "default charset for pages"?! But what is the name of the German charset? ... sorry for my ignorance ... I tried the general UTF-8 khunjack suggested, amd that destroyed the look of my admin-panel (obviously because my site-title had used a "ü", too). Ok, changed that title, and then it worked... ... but not for the words I am using in the language file, just see my "under comstruction page": ok for: http... not ok for: http... Obviously stuff in the language files must also be charset-treated, but somewhere else?! Any ideas? Greetings, Lars Last edited by lsb; 05-12-2007 at 11:01 PM. |

Hi Lars! Had you solve your problem, as I can not see any problems at the pages you provided?

Hi Nick,
Quote:
At http... Internet Explorer is showing: noch verf? Zeichen and Mozilla: noch verfgbare Zeichen instead of: noch verfügbare Zeichen These are phrases which are translated in the language file. I am not sure if I have to use another charset code than UTF-8 and/or if the language file has to be treated seperately. Greetings Lars Last edited by lsb; 05-12-2007 at 11:01 PM. |

Hi lsb, take a look now:
http://www.evaluation.lars-balzer.na...-link.php?id=4 The only thing I did - opened your language file with Notepad, changed this symbol with correct one and chose Encoding UTF-8 instead of ANSI and then uploaded it again to your server. |

Hi Nick,
Quote:
Thank you very much! Ok, to sum it up: You get correctly displayed characters in German language (ü etc.) within eSyndicat when you a) use UTF-8 as charset in the admin controll panel b) use UTF-8 as charset for the German language file when saving it Greetings Lars Last edited by lsb; 05-12-2007 at 11:02 PM. |
