Default Stopping automated submissions

Hello,
I have eSyndicat 1.6 free installed and I keep on getting automated submissions of sites that are not pertinent.

I would like to do any (one is enough) of the following:

- Modifying the submission form so that it requires an answer to a simple question, so that a bit of human intelligence is required.
- Banning an e-mail (the submitter is always the same)
- Banning an IP (how to detect the IP number of the submitter by the way?)

Any hints?

I see that captchas are nowadays managed by bots, perhaps the "admin-defined-question" approach would definitely solve the problem.

Thanks in advance and please keep up the good work on this fantastic software

Hello cleoni!
Captcha can't handle the problem?
You can try to make it more complex in Admin Panel » Configuration.

Anyway, all the solutions you've listed above requires changes in the code. If you want we can do a custom modification for you but it will not be for free. Or maybe some of the v1.6 users solved this problem already and he can help you.

BTW, every time someone suggests the listing script retrieves his IP address and saves in the database. So you can check them via any database manager (it's in the 'listings' table).

Thank you!

I suggest that there should be a flood control to prevent multiple submissions, based on IP. It should allow just one submission with a time gap defined by the Admin. 2 minutes or 5 minutes or any other time mentioned by the Admin.

Captcha is useless for such spammers as they have scripts which can read the captcha.

Suggestion: Incorporate reCaptcha

Hi Vinayy

reCaptcha is available as a plugin with the pro-version.

Hi Greg

I hope you are Not going to let the multiple submissions force us to upgrade to the paid version.

IP based flood control would be good for all (versions).
