Default Meta Keywords, Meta Descriptions and Descriptions

Hi

I sow a lot of articles regarding SEO optimization, and regarding the things that have the biggest influence on the website traffic, but i still dont know some basic things.

Anyone talk about Meta Description, Meta Tags, Meta Keywords, and Descriptions, but can anyone show me an example of how should it look a good: Meta description, Meta keywords, Meta Tags, Description, and a title.

I think that an example will be very helpfull for many of us, especialy for the beginers.

Hi,

You are talking about on-site optimisation rather than off-site. One you have discovered the key words that work best for your site/content, these need to be included in your meta tags. Let's take each one in turn.

Description - This is used by search engines such as Google to display the snippets that you see in your search engine results. It should contain your key words but it also your call to action for visitors to click to your site.

Keywords - these should contain words and short phrases separated by commas. There is no point in using key words that don't appear in your content as they are there to underpin you content. There is little evidence that keywords have much impact with Google and Yahoo but may for some lesser known search engines.

The most important meta tag is the Title. This appears in the top of the browser window frame. This should typically contain your company name followed by the section, category and page description e.g.

"XYZ Ltd - Sports Equipment - Football - Corner Flags"

In this example the '-' character is used to separate the various parts but the '|' character is also often used.

I hope this helps. I have an article that you may wish to look at which is here:

Best of luck.

I think you do not have any fair idea about the very basics of search engine optimization and therefore, you need to make sure that you have downloaded Google Starter Guide on Search Engine Optimization. This pdf will definitely help you a lot to understand the very basics of SEO.

In SEO you should concentrate more on Title tags which is far more important than any other tags

Hi,

Thanks for sharing all informations. I glad to know details about meta tags and keywords. Should we have to change keywords in every 3/4 months for better search engine results?

the title tag and the meta description tag are very important,
google does have a look into the meta description tag too,... very evident from the fact that google webmaster tools has pinopinted out which of my pages have duplicate meta descriptions!!!

meta keywords was important before, but not now,... its customery to add it to the page, in case any meta tag search engine spider comes along, other than that, no...

hope this helps

Regards,
M.

as I know...follow this

Meta Title Length = 63 characters
Meta Keyword tag = 256 characters
Meta Description tag = 156 characters

More than these nos. will not be shown on search engines.

All Meta tags are important for Yahoo and Bing but may not for Google. Google ignore meta keyword. Meta keyword should include only keyword used in tha very page.

Most important is meta description and title. Both must include keywords and must be attractive to pull attention of clients. as both are visible on SERP. It is better to use "pipe" "|" symbol between keywords in title.

See some competitors sites to write a good title and description.

Thanks
