Hi and welcome to our support forums,
The main goal of SEO is to put a site to the top positions in google or any other search engine according to special keyword or keyphrases. In this case you do not have to pay anything for all the traffic you get from SEs. Pay-Per-Click says for itself You pay for every click on a link to your website.

Both are the major components of search marketing. SEO helps your site achieve better results in organic searches for the keywords you optimize for, pay per click on the other hand help lists your site in the advertiser spots on search results pages or partners site.

in my own simple way of understanding, is that SEO means having improved positioning in Search Engine searches (google, yahoo, bing, etc) of your targeted keywords without you paying for anything when the link of your site gets clicked.
while in pay-per-click, you actually have to pay google or any search engines, to give you the top positions when people are searching for your keywords. |

The first being 'PPC' and the second being 'SEO'. As these are both acronyms they can be fairly impenetrable to the layman. Both of these options have strengths and weaknesses. While PPC has a more immediate effect, it is limited to the amount of money you put into it; whereas SEO has the potential to generate massive amounts of self-perpetuated traffic for a short amount of money with a little bit of luck.
SEO works by optimizing the structure and content of a Web page for a set of determined keywords so that it is viewed as reputable and valuable by the search engines. SEO also relies on maximizing the quality and quantity of incoming links to your site. PPC (specifically Google AdWords) works by establishing a set of keywords and then building an ad using optimizing for those keywords that links back to your site. |
