Hi all,

since I have made VERY VERY GOOD experiences with the esyndicat-script and the support of it I think about migrating my "best and loved" link-collection with a history of nearly 10 years to esyndicat.
If you are interested in chess you might want to take a look at:
http...
It nearly did not change the last 10 years, so it is static html and far from beeing technically and graphically up to date, but it runs and has several hundred visitors a day.
But before I want to do the migration and buy another esyndicat license for another domain (can I update my license to a 2-domain one?) I have several questions:

a)
When does the new version come out? I would like to start that work with the next update.
b)
I know that there are several requirements for esyndicat, among them * PHP 4.3.0 or above; * MySQL Database Server 4.0 or above; * Apache 1.3 or above.
What else do I need to ask my hosting company?
I think I also need cronjobs and mod_rewrite, some more?
And if these requirements are not fullfilled, what kind of functions do not work?
c)
When doing the migration, I would love to finalize my work under a different URL (e.g. http://www.domain.com/dir1/) and only once I have finished everything move everything to the final URL e.g. http://www.domain.com/, because the "old-fashioned" link-collection is online yet and has to serve my visitors. Is something like that possible? Can I change the path of my installation within the same domain so the database-connection and everything else would work properly?

Thanks for helping!
Greetings,
Lars

I hope the new version will be available within a month or two. So, you can stick to your current version for now and start the migration when the new version is out.

AFAIK, the only additional requirement in the new version is GD or ImageMagick installed (if you plan to upload and resize thumbnails).

I think it's possible. And you will be able to adjust URLs to preserve PageRank, etc.[/QUOTE]

Ok, Vincent, thanks.
Then I will come back to that when the new version is out.
