I want to run a weekly update
What is the method for that?
How can I backup my site structure and DB for a rainy day?
When I am clicking my DB I get these 3 names (which to backup?)
escuser- Full Access
kritan- Full Access
moving- Database Administrator

Hello movingknowhow,
If I installed eSyndiCat for you, I created new database "escdb".
If you want create backup your eSyndiCat data, choose "escdb".

Backing up the database also backs up all the configuration files too? If not, what's the best way to do that?

Hello all
I really don’t want to be a drag but I need a step by step explanation on how to backup my site.
I backed up my root site but what about the DB?
In the case of disaster I want to recover fast.
Don't know how to export it with PHP my admin

Hi MKH
I remember doing it a while back...eeek so just went back as your post kindly prompted me to do one.
Go to Manage Database >
Export >
it will go to a page with header export database/tables, choose your MySQL Files you want to back up from your directory individually on left hand side, (tried selecting all but didn't work for me, you can try but it only saves first in list highlighted)
Anyway on right handside there are a few options.
Structure
then
Data
then
Use real tables prefix
I had all of them ticked, but not their sub options, as i don't know what they do and i didn't like the sound of add droptable and complete inserts. Maybe someone would like to enlighten me and the others on this?? :)
Anyway there are 26 files, as i said mine didn't save if all highlight as one batch of files, so had to save individually sooo..
Click on one, then click on Save as file, choose either save to server or pc. If server it will put a copy in your back up file and tell you when completed at top.
If you save to your pc, then it will come up with a box open asking you to choose either notepad or save to disc. Click save to disc, i put them in my temp file, and have that open in separate window and just manually did all 26 like that, and i see them come up as when each one is copied.
Then I just highlight all 26 and stuffed them into a new folder where my backups are on my hard drive. Thats it really. Didn't lose anything :) Touch wood! ;)
If you have cPanel you can do a back-up of both the site and the database.

Hello Loren,
You could install phpMyAdmin ;)
I do have phpMyAdmin...but i am with oneandone.co.uk so they have their own panel, which all in all is not bad. My hubbies website has CPanel so i know what it looks like and had a little nose last night at its functionality.
Loren,
If you want I can create cPanel account for you to play with.
Let me know if you have some unused domain laying around.

Bless you WTM! I do as it happens have a few unused domains laying around but they are off the same hosting space, does that make a difference? Or is Cpanel some software you can add and use separately? It's all Double Dutch to me (no offence to Dutch People out there :) )
