Template tweaking

I am using v1.2 GreenLeaves template and I would like to make 2 more changes.

#1 - Is it possible to NOT display the "Statistics" (Total number of links
Total number of categories) from the bottom of every page, including the home page?

#2 - When I manually add a new listing, it gives me the option for "Link Rank" and when I rank a site then view the updated category page, it lists the same listing 2 times. Once as a regular listing and again as a ranked site. I would like to only display the site once.

What if I wanted to display a banner or google ads in the area instead? Similar to what this website did with his Featured Links area - http://www.2thelinks.com/

I need to know how to change the word "statistics" to something else and I guess he added a table to add the google ads.
