100% page width

I've noticed most if not all of the templates available here are using a standard fixed width. I am considering a drastic change to the look of my directory and am thinking about using 100% page width rather than a fixed size. I am wondering if anyone else is currently doing this or can offer their own experiences, good/bad idea?

BTW wasn't there a thread here a couple of days ago where users were posting their directory links? I was hoping to browse through some of those simply to help spark some ideas, yet for the life of me I cannot seem to find it.

I use 100% width for my directory and found the biggest challenge to be line wrapping from text which would throw out alignment for the rest of the page. Still a few little things to fix but for the most part my site works from 800 x 600 and up. It took a lot of switching back and forth between screen resolutions to get it all sorted out.
