Editors configuration: Is this a bug or just a current configuration?
Hi,
The "Suggest a link" works when the "Editors" and "Registered only" options are disabled.
For some sensitive sites, I want those who submit links to be "registered" users only. Thus, I tried this configuration:
Editors (disabled); and enabled for "DMOZ like functionality" and "Registered only". What is "DMOZ like functionality", by the way?
When I tried to do a test register though for a user (not an editor) using for example:
http://mysite/links/register.php
I got the error message: "Error: Editors functionality disabled by admin."
The only way I was able to allow general registration is if I enable the "Editors" functionality. The thing with this though is that the registered individual will now have "editors" privileges.
It would be good to just have some member "registration" functionaility without all registered members also serving as editor. This will reduce submission of "bad links" and potential banning of abusive users.
Also, in regard "Editors" functionality, it seems that they can be registered only on per category basis? Is there a way to have an option to provide a an editor blanket editorial privileges for multiple "root" categories?
The next is more a wish list but is there a way so that the registration process would require email validation, i.e., an email is sent to registered user that they must then respond to before the name even appears in the Admin page for "manage editors"?
The validation will achieve a very vital function -- verify that the email given is correct. As important, I wish to use the auto-generated "validation" email also to request for more information about the person to be used as a basis whether to approve or deny the registration.
Thanks.
