Hi,

I'm creating a restaurant directory and have 2 main categories in Root: By Type, which has sub categories like American, Chinese, Italian ... etc, and By Location, which lists the main areas in the city. I want to keep the category icon size for all categories 32 x 32 or 48 x 48 but want to use 2 large images for the first to categories, most probably 100 x 250 pixels.

So my question is how could I customize the Root category to display a different icon size or customize the homepage to show these large images instead of the default category view?

Thanks

Hi amgadhs. I just added an image to the root/home page category in my directory (TheBestOfTheInternet.com). You can make imagesw any size. I'm using 200 pixels wide for most of my categories, but made the one for the home page 250 px wide. All you have to do is to for categories is to go to: Admin > Manage Categories, then click to Edit the category, then use the CKEditor for copy and click to insert an "Image". You can choose the size, border, spacing and placement. I decided to pre-size all the images that I'm going to use so they upload at 200 px.

For your home page just go to General Configuration and do the same thing in the editor. It might be much easier to manage the images if you merget them together into one image that's the size and relationship, etc. that you want, then just upload the one combine image.

Good luck!

Thanks TopWebNames for the reply. Using this idea I have now the 2 images in the homepage linking to the 2 main categories. But I also have the 2 categories listed below in the Categories section. So I set the Hide Category feature of both to true so they are not showing in the homepage anymore. Will this prevent search engines from indexing these categories?

Glad I could help.

There are no categories listed below in this post. Maybe you mean something else. Anyway, I'm not the one to ask. Maybe you should make a separate post about this with a related Title.
