Populating the Directory

Hi,

I am interested in the approach different people take to getting users to add themselves to the directory. To begin with the directory is empty so not very attractive. Do you enter business details yourself until you reach a critical mass?

If anyone has any hints or tips I would be very interested?

I used yellow page scraper to get listings. It worked great.

You can allow free links, if you have to review them and accept only good sites for the first year, you can get your directory filled fast.

You may need to announce in lot of web master directories to attract submissions.
