Pre Sales Questions
Hello,
I have been evaluating your product prior to purchasing and have a few questions regarding its capabilities, features and compatibility.
I am currently using “eSyndiCat Free v1.6[Omega]” for evaluating purposes before buying a license. However, I have run into some issues that I would like to address before committing to a product purchase. I would appreciate your comments.
Test Setup:
• Currently using PHP 4.4.7 and/or PHP 5
• Server: Apache: allow_url_fopen OFF
• Edited functions “get_listing_header” root/include/util.php and admin/util.php to work with cURL
• Directory currently running in a sub-directory.
Issues after initial evaluation:
Reciprocal Link Checking: (link checking configuration ON)
Front End:
When a visitor requests a reciprocal link, eSyndicat checks for the existence of the reciprocal link and does not allow for the link request to complete as expected.
Admin Side:
Pressing the “Reciprocal Valid” or “Reciprocal Invalid” options returns a list of links already in the database marked as Valid or marked as Invalid respectively.
The script does not check existing links in the database and mark them as Invalid if the reciprocal link is not found. There is no way to purge non reciprocating links. Is this feature part of the paid license version?
Link Creation:
Front End:
No issues found. Link is not created if reciprocating link is not found. Works as expected.
Admin Side:
Can not create a link record even when the reciprocating link is present at the requesters website. No error messages are shown on the admin panel or the error log.
On the other hand, links can be created if listing checking is turned off.
CronJobs:
I have noticed that the cron.php file is set up to run cURL if allow_url_fopen is not set.
Can the cron jobs be set to run at time interval less than 1 day for testing purposes? It would be beneficial to see if the cron functionality is working without having to wait a day to find out.
After the cron job is run, does the script mark the listings in the database as broken or reciprocal invalid?
More Feature Questions:
Sponsor Links – Paid License or Pro Version:
If there are paid sponsor links (outbound links without corresponding reciprocating links). Does the script differentiate these links when checking for reciprocating links so that they do not get marked as invalid and deleted?
Appreciate your comments. Thanks in advance.
Sandro.
