Im looking for a directory script with specific features and wonder if eSyndicat is suitable. I am considering the Pro version.

1) The directory will be for a certain market, listing software providers and their scripts. I will need to be able to provide a detailed review of their script and then people who have used the script would also review it if they wish. Basically working in a similar way to the software used at www.download.com. Is this possible?

2) I see that eSyndicat offers a banner manager but in the demo i couldnt see a way to offer multiple banners in the same spot with some kind of refresh rate. Basically i would probably need to have multiple banners which rotate. Is this possible?

3) Is it possible to receive an email notification when a new link is submitted?

Much thanks in advance for your replies :good:

Hi and welcome aboard,
Yes, you can create something similar. Actually listing comments can be used as reviews. They can also rate scripts.
Please check this site:
http://www.phpground.com/
It's based on very old version now we have much more new functionality. In 2.2 version you'll be able to set different prices for different categories ;) Like in hotscripts

#2. Sure, it's possible to configure our banners system in a way you wish

#3. Yes. You can check this for your admin profile.

Let us know if you have more questions

Many thanks for replying :)

In Admin/Create Listing i do not see "Listing Comments", only "Description"?

2) Is this standard or would it require modding the code?

More ideas on the kind of system i am looking for:

Willow,

http://www.shelbyvillemainstreet.com

that is their latest version, I don't have any banners up yet. But you can see what it can do.

Thanks for that. So basically rename "Description" to "Our Review" or something along those lines?

The banner rotator though is very important.

Yeah, this is exactly what the script looks like with no modifications, I like it alot. After a few auctions I am selling some stuff I don't use anymore, I will be able to purchase the unlimited licenses and xooarticles.

Oh for the banner rotation, There is a ton of ways you can place banners on the site, they are not restrictive. I have read many posts and have checked out alot of the directories and they have alot of creative ways of displaying banners. I don't think banners should be your concern with this script.

Yeah, the banner side isnt that big of a deal, i could always use a third party script like openAds. The problem im seeing at the moment with the description is that while i will be reviewing some software, there are also parts that will act just as a directory so when someone ads a listing they will need to use the description field.

Hi willow

With the ProVersion you could create a "custom field" that you could add "your" review. Just an idea.

I did see that actually Greg and it would be the Pro version that i go for. With that idea thought wouldnt that field also be available for ordinary directory users or can it be specified for one category only?

I'm not sure ? But I think this may be in the next upcoming version?
But Simon or one of the other guys could give a better answer.

Sorry I did not understand the question well. What functionality you need in eSyndiCat? I will try to clarify this for you
