Hi, you SEO maestri!

I have an SEO probelm for which I realy need help!!!!

I am working on a multilingual Sail Training World Directory, which is articulated around a main website www.sail-training-world.com , which you are welcome to visit!

One particularity of this directory is that it will be accessed not only from our main website, but also through our “country” pages, such as www.sailtraining.fr, .ru, .jp, .org.uk, .ch, etc. (I have bought more than 80 country-specific domain names).

I would like to get a good site ranking for my main site www.sail-training-world.com with google, Yahoo and other international search engines, (at least) in English.

- Will I get a good ranking through the meta-keywords, which i have now added to the main categories (see list at the end of this message)???
- Should i shorten or lengthen that list???
- What do you suggest I do else to get a good ranking??? (Don’t forget I am a Newbie: This is my first directory site!!!)

I need also to get a good site ranking for my country –specific sites, such as www.sailtraining.fr, www.sailtraining.ru, etc. with the same international "localized" search engines (Such as goole.ch, google.ru) and with the national "local" search engines, both in English and in the other national language(s) of the country if/when applying .

But here I have a problem: My current country-specific frontpages are pages on my main site (for example /pSTFR.html & /pSTRU.html in English and /pSTFRfr.html in French and /pSTRUru.html in Russian) to which I have so far only redirected the domain names of my a/m country-specific sites.

- Isn't this redirection preventing the search engines from finding and ranking these "local" country sites and their valuable country-specific extentions, even if I set some keywords at the top of the pages on my main site (in English or their translation in the relevant language)
- If this is the case, shouldn't we create the country pages as www.sailtraining.fr (instead of /pSTFR.html to which we are presently redirecting the www.sailtraining.fr page)??
- Shouldn't we then set the keywords both in English AND their translation in the relevant language).
- What do you suggest I do else to get a good ranking??? (Don’t forget I am a Newbie: This is my first directory site!!!)

Please review, comment and advise how I should therefore proceed,

Alain

I don’t really understand your question about redirection. I checked quickly your site and didn’t find any redirections, but may be I miss them.
Will I get a good ranking through the meta-keywords, which i have now added to the main categories (see list at the end of this message)???
No, not at all. Meta-keywords are completely useless and ignored by major SE for a couple years already.

- What do you suggest I do else to get a good ranking??? (Don’t forget I am a Newbie: This is my first directory site!!!)

Well, this is 10 million dollars question. Generally good, useful and frequently updated content; then links, links and again links. People are spending years and in some cases a lot of money to learn and find the answer to that question. I would suggest for you to learn SEO through the Internet and books. Or you may hire some SEO specialist if you want to speed up the ranking process.
