Is it normal that after 4 months a site still has no page rank assigned to it or rather a rank of 0.

I have requested many links although many have not shown up yet when queried under line:sitedomain.

Just looking for input.

What is your site url and why do you care about PR?

Buy high PR links and get listed in some high PR directories and you will have your PR in next update.

some time it takes time to get pr updates, so no worry it will get updates next time as bsb said.

4 months is fine for no PR. BUT you DO have Pr it is just not being shown on the Toolbar. GOogle has 2 types of PR, Actual PR & Toolbar PR. Actual PR is updated on a rolling basis daily, and as soon as a link to your site is found, the PR is credited to you.

Toolbar PR on the other hand is simply a snapshot of Pr at any given time. Even though it is now updated around 4-5 times a year, it is not live at the time it is updated (Updated is the wrong word really as it is exported rather than updated). The export however is normally a couple of months old, rather than at that moment in time.

All of the above is correct, but several things have not been said. First, to worry about pr after only 4 months, short sited. As one of the other posters said, buy high pr links if you are that worried about it.

PR is not going to get you top rankings, assuming that is your ultimate concern. PR is nice and for directories, is a sales point, always a bragging point. Content is the key.

Considering the name of your site you list, ProBuilderPLUS.com where you pitch online wealth, you should know, content is where it is at.

Out of the box, eSyndicat is pretty good on the seo side, providing you completely set it up. But the script cannot create content, you have to provide that.

There is an old saying and it still rings true today, Content is King and Links are Queen. Takes work, but pays off in the long run. That is assuming you are ultimately concerned about natural rankings and real traffic.

If though your goal is to sell listings as a back link service, you do need pr to prove value. Will not get you ranking and of course clicks, but will bring you business selling submissions to those who are worried about pr for their usually new sites.

The whole fixation with PR thing is a total waste of time. It is so sad that it has become a self fuelling beast. People sell links so they want a high pr. to get a high PR they need backlinks so look for sites with a high PR :(

Very good point. :) Positions in SERPs this is what most important.

Nice thread and lots of valid points. I must be one of those guys who lately have been a bit fixated on Page Ranking. Especially as a selling point. Very rare I think that someone wants to submit to a PR0 -2. I think most of us prefer to get their outside links from a directory that has a high PR. The higher the better.

Nonetheless, having set up my directory just over 2 months ago I have just had my first PR update and according to the google toolbar it says PR4. From a monetary point of view I am happy with that as a start.

Has anyone else had a google PR update recently?

Cheers
Shunny

Shunny, would you mind sharing with us how you got to PR4 in only 2 month? I for one am pretty interested on how you achieved that!

I would be glad to fobvip only thing now - and I have a few different websites - their page ranks are all zero...I am surprised hope my directory goes back to a PR4. Google must be playing with the page ranks at the moment. I will just have to wait and see. So at the moment my directory says Zero when earlier in my day it said PR4.

use this google page rank calculation chart (http://www.web-articles.info/e/a/title/Google-page-rank-calculation-chart/). this may help you on how many links you need for a desired page rank.

Wao..! what a great post.. I LOVE the above saying.. I do know that when google catches a site, the site definitely gets pagerank 1.. though that may not show up in the toolbar.. To get a good pagerank simply get lots of links from high pagerank sites..(especially directories).. Please do remix that with links from low pagerank sites as well.. don't just get all your links from pr5+. Shuffle your link structure that with some pr4s, pr3s, pr2 and even pr1s..

best luck
