Hi,
We are evaluating directory software to use within an existing static HTML site. I have downloaded and installed the free version, but will spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out whether eSyndiCat will do what we want for our client.
Willing to buy the upgrade or pay a nominal charge for this to be faster for our client. I've searched the forums and documentation without success.
I can write & understand the coding in php, Smarty and MySQL, just want to make sure this software can provide the admin functions and maintenance for a directory implementation in an existing HTML site say within a <td></td> without using frames, iframes, etc.

We seem to have decent progress in using eSyndiCat as a directory reference within an HTML site. i.e. www.yoursite.com/dir/
We are creating a skin using the header.tpl and footer.tpl to get it looking exactly like the rest of the site.
Is this the right path to resolution or do you have any other suggestions.

P.S. Very cool to have categories listed within the url. :good:

So is there a solution for example to use a index.htm to show the main (php) page ?
Exactly what file do you have to edit if you want to change the layout a bit...
(for example with the PRO2.1 version to remove text "eSyndicat directory software" which is exactly in the middle...)
What file do you have to edit if you want to edit/change/add links to the right unused side/table (normally empty)
And what file with the left side?

woeanl,
(for example with the PRO2.1 version to remove text "eSyndicat directory software" which is exactly in the middle...)
If it's necessary, change "Site title" option via 'Admin Panel » Configuration » General Configuration'
What file do you have to edit if you want to edit/change/add links to the right unused side/table (normally empty)
And what file with the left side?
For GreenLeaves
left - header.tpl
right - footer.tpl
Hope it helps.

change "Site title" option via 'Admin Panel » Configuration » General Configuration'
Yes now there is a nice title...but still right under the new title there is the text:
"eSyndicat directory software" (allmost in the middle of the page)
I don't mind the bottom one but the one in the middle i want to remove...

Hello woeanl!
I think it is description of ROOT category. Open your admin panel of eSydniCat -- browse categories and click edit button. In the textarea description remove all text. I hope it will help.

Yes u r right...thanks...
When i look at the HTML output,
I see that the root title was added to the main title which was allready there in the General configuration!
so the HTML output is basicly putting 2 titles together on the main page.
(was there a post on this?)
Is the ROOT category the place to add/change the title/meta tag for the main page people see first? What area in admin is putting words there aswell?
What is exactly the function of "Lock Status: yes / no" ?
(sorry for all those questions...)

Hi woeanl,
Have you cleared cache?
What is exactly the function of "Lock Status: yes / no" ?
This option will interdict visitors to suggest links in that category.
