Some confusion about facilities

Hello,

I am a bit confused about some of facilities of eSynd.

I mean:
- featured listings
- partners listings

My questions are:
1. This are links from directory of links ?
2. What's the difference between them


And question 3 is:
I want to add into a left side box some links to some third party sites. This sites are not into links. What's the best possibility to do this (i already did by altering template code but at each update of eSynd i must be re-update code so not a very good idea)...

And question 3 is:

IMHO you can't do without the changing the front-end. Also you can create a separate database with these links and get the links from this database.
