Three-Way exchanges?

Hello all, I am wondering how much luck others have had with the three-way link scenarios. When I submit a reciprocal link with another directory, I submit my other directory as the recip. URL. I am finding that some of the software doesn't allow a recip from a separate domain. I am also finding that many webmasters don't believe that I own both directories and, once again, deny the listing.

This is not all that tough given the general directory, but with an adult directory, there are a lot of challenges to finding high quality link partners. Getting only a small percentage of them to buy the 3way definitely limits the PR hopes.

How does everyone else approach this?

I have had similar experiences, most people doing "links" haven't changed mindsets to a 3-way.

I am going to shift my approach and try sending emails instead of using forms and find people who are not so entrenched in "link trading". I am going have a link in the email to an appropriate cateogry for their site and then tell them to click the "suggest link". On there I will have instruction and information on why 3-ways are the best way.

Will post again with how it goes.
