Thanks Dave, that did the trick.

Seems like that 'Link checking' Configuration section ALL (!?) relates to the moment a link is suggested.

But, the page I liked to add had already the recip on it and
I had the field "Reciprocal checking for the following URL" filled out with the link of the directory script. Mhhhh

Yes, of course. 'Link checking' relates to link suggestion. Here there are tools for checking suggested link. If they are not necessary for your using, you can disconnect them.
Reciprocal url must specify page on which is url (for example on a site of the user who suggest link) which specified in the field "Reciprocal checking for the following URL".
