Ok,

I have the pro version and uploaded to my server through Internet Explore (ftp). I have it under a default folder named "httpdocs" thats the only folder you can paste it in. I have it uploaded as ziped folder.

Next, I must change the commands, Where is the "command" option in IE and how will I be able to change it?, I tried right-click > Properties but it changes the folder name.

Thanks in advance,:sos:

MK, you really need a proper ftp client to upload to your server.
There are quite a few free ones available. I use SmartFTP.
Google "free ftp clients" and download and install a couple. It makes life a lot easier.

[00:25:18] chmod 777 backup
[00:25:18] 500 CHMOD not understood

I also tried this option but got the same answer:

Choose the zip folder > Custom command > Misc. > Change Mode

got this:

[00:43:46] 550 backup eSyndiCat_Pro_v2.0.01.zip: No such file or directory
[00:44:37] NOOP
[00:44:37] 200 NOOP command successful
[00:45:26] SIZE 1768629
[00:45:26] 550 1768629: No such file or directory

Hello MK

I have the pro version and uploaded to my server through Internet Explore (ftp). I have it under a default folder named "httpdocs" thats the only folder you can paste it in. I have it uploaded as ziped folder.
If I have understood what you have done I think I can help. You are not meant to upload the zip folder which you downloaded from eSyndiCat.

Once you have downloaded the zip file from eSundiCat you need to "extract" all the files compressed into the zip-file (think of a suitcase packed with 5 times the amount of stuff that can really fit into it, but somehow you can still get the lid shut :) ). Do you have a zip/un-zip program? I find WINZIP to be excellent. - you get a free trial, and can search for it on google.

Anyway, using winzip I unpack/unzip the files to a temporary directory - making sure I tell winzip to keep the folder/directory structure.
I then use smartFTP, like you, to upload all the files (including the subdirectories) subdirectories ). From that point the eSC installation notes take over again.

If my answer is just too utterly basic for you .. my appologies. Otherwise you might find my notes About Installation and Basic Configuration helpful, they are at http://www.finespeeches.com/_other_/eSC_intro.html

good luck

Regards
Mark

Later - If you are unfamilair with zip files you can see a brief explanation here ... http://www.winzip.com/aboutzip.htm
Later still - I have added some extra notes to the "About Installation & Basic Configuration" file which might help a bit.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for explanation and the link. I have done all that already, my problem is "running" the command on SmartFTP. I get all these errors whenever I type anything in the command line. Like:

[00:25:14] chmod 777 backup
[00:25:14] 500 CHMOD not understood

Any ideas why?

Hi MK,

I suppose, you FTP-client doesn't support chmod command.
Please inform me with your FTP-credentials, I'll try to help.

Hi, MK!

I think you have some problem with your hosting company.
