Hello,

I have a yahoo-like (template) html directory which has categories and subcategories. Something like

http://dir.yahoo.com/Arts/
http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Shopping_and_Services/Books/Bookstores/Arts_and_Crafts/Titles/Design_Arts/

I have asked the desk if i can integrate this software in my current template (using FP) and they said you can.

The QUESTION IS: HOW? How will i be able to use/add this software in my current template?

All i know is HTML

If you know HTML, it shall be enough to do the templates on your own?
Besides html, templates also use Smarty templating language, but it shouldn't be that hard to figure out especially if instead of starting from zero, you would better choose some existing template as a starting point.

Hi MK,
Thanks for your interest to our software and welcome to our support forums.
I think Front Page is not the most suitable solution. It's better to make coding directly in tpl files using plain text editors. As Tom advised you should start from any current existing template. Let us know if you have any difficulties.

Thank you both,

I already have the template made and my question is seeking the possibility of inserting the database therein.

So how would I be able to do that? if there is a way.

The answer is "NO"
You can not insert the database into the template.
You have to create the skin for the script from your html template elements.
Can this be done? The answer is YES.
Esyndicat skin could be created from practically any template.

Like Simon and Tom suggested - you take one of the existing skins and start replacing styles and elements with ones from your own template.

Don't get mad at people who is trying to help because of your own lack of knowledge

Now that answers my question.-_-

So basically I have to use one of the free temps provided in your website and "modify" it. So my next question would be in what program would be this "modification" take place?

I understand so far that the admin panel will be available like a web page from my server for me to administer the database. right?

You can use any html editor or simple text editor like notepad.
I personally work on DreamWeaver.
You can use your favorite FrontPage also but make sure you disable all the features that corrects the code automatically.
Sometimes tag can be opened in one file (like header.tpl) and closed in another (like footer.tpl). FrontPage may assume that closing tag is missing and insert extra one... So just be careful.

That is correct.

You will have web based admin panel to manage your directory.
It is a part of the script and will be on the same server where your directory is installed.
If directory is on www.YourDirectorySite.com - admin panel will be: www.YourDirectorySite.com/admin

Unless you need to make some changes to the database structure - everything else can be done from the admin panel.

Why don't you create some subdomain, install the free version of the script and play with it to get the general idea how it works?

Thanks for your answers, and you do have a good suggestion. However, I just purchased the software and will install and play with it once i get it.

I also went into the MySQL and played around and it seems that i might be able to do something with it.

If I have any questions, I will be back, THANKS TO ALL SO FAR!:yahoo:
