View Full Version : Category names determine page titles?

Do I need to add my site's primary keyword to each category name in order for it to become the "page title" the SE's utilize?
For example, presently most of my category names are locations such as "U.S.", "Florida", etc. When I'm in a category, I do see "haunted houses" in the web brower's title line but only as part of the path so does this mean the SE's are considering the phrase "haunted houses" as part of every page's title I hope? Or do I need to go in and add "haunted houses" to every category name for it to be considered part of the page title by the SE's?

Hi Dan,
There is an opportunity to add META description and META keywords for each category, if you have not fill up appropriate fields for children categories, META description and META keywords would be empty for this one category.

Hi John,
Thanks, yes, I've filled in all the fields for every category (both parent and child). I understand the meta description and meta keywords are important to the SE's, but my understanding is that the SE's actually give the page title preeminence above all else which is why I wondered about adding the "haunted houses" phrase to my category names. I went ahead and did this just for the "U.S." category so that one now reads "U.S. Haunted Houses".
It just looks redundant to see "Florida Haunted Houses", "Alabama Haunted Houses", etc for all the states listed down the category list so that's why I was wondering if it's required for creating the page title used by the SE's (or is the path name I see at the top of the browser the actual page title?).

Hi Dan,
I have not quiet understood. Please describe your goal in more details.
Page title bar dinamically builts such as breadcrump but back to front.
If you want to "Alabama Haunted Houses" were displayed please rename your Alabama category to Alabama Haunted Houses

Hi John,
I believe you just answered my question. With each page title being built dynamically by eSyndicat using the child and parent categories, then my page titles will be fine since the parent category of all my child categories is "haunted houses". So, this puts "haunted houses" into every page title and this is what I wanted to ensure was happening with my directory.
Thanks! :cool-yo:
