Okay, so I launched a new site or two and I am really focused on getting these sites out there. I have been building sites for 6 or 7 years, but mostly for clients and not myself. As a result, I haven't done much SEO other than the technical aspect of on page optimization.

So, I have this new site that is commercial in nature and automotive related (Rebuilt Crate Engines (http://www.rebuiltcrateengines.com)). I want to drive it to the top of the search engine rankings for the keyword "rebuilt engines" and possibly "crate engines".

I am working on improving the description of, and getting images for each image on the site. However, I have been waiting a while for the owner of the business (who is very busy) to get this information to me and I cannot wait any longer. As such, I have begun the SEO campaign on this site.

Already Done to get traffic:

First, I optimized the home page content for "rebuilt engines".
Second, I setup a froogle feed to get each engine out there.
Next, I put a single link out there from another site to this one to get it indexed (which works faster for me than submitting it to google).
I then setup an affiliate program (which I have had a hard time getting people to use, but I'll work on it some more later)

Still on the To Do List

Getting Reciprocal Links

Currently, after a month of working on this (a few hours a week) I am getting about 100 uniques a day to the site. However, my target is to get 1,000 uniques a day.

I know it takes time, and link building is not going so well. However, what else could I do to get SERPS up and get more traffic? I am trying to stay away from anything that costs money, although time is no problem. For example, no adwords or paid directory submissions.

Hi cique,

I wish you good luck in getting 1000 uniques a day!
How can I help you?

Write descriptions for every category with targeted keywords in it...

Try to find some discussion boards related to your business and post there with the link to your site in the signature...

Please visit this site:

Subscribe to their newsletter and in return you will get a free ebook "77 Ways To Get Traffic nearly all FREE". I've read it and think it is extremely useful.

Hope this helps.

FYI, I have come up with a link bait scheme to hopefully get this site launched in a hurry. I will be setting up a newsletter by the end of the month, and starting next month will begin publicizing a contest to win a FREE ENGINE. We will wait 3 months capturing email addresses from visitors and then give one a free engine! We are also considering asking visitors what there favorite message board is and giving away another engine on that board as well!

Because this market (automotive) is dominated by message board and fan sites, I hope to generate a lot of links from this campaign.

Vincent,
We need a way of giving kudos or "rep points" when someone posts a nice post. I like the site and the ebook had some fantastic ideas. Most of them I already knew, but there were a few that I hadn't thought about. Definitely a nice read.

Thanks,
Cyque

Yes, you are right about rep points. For some reason they are disabled here. I will talk to Simon about this, but a little bit later, after the release of the new version.

Agree with you on the ebook -- very good read for newbies as well as for seasoned web masters.
