Hi!

A quick poll that personally interests me: What PR does your esyndicat driven website get on the startpage?

Mine has currently 4/10, online since May 2006.

4 seems to be achieved by most directories I notice no matter what software they are running :)

I got 2 on one, but who cares, since I'm in top 10 on yahoo for one word search phrase on that. That's what counts.

The PR5 directory I had in the past, I converted to a content site.

PR is not king, unless you are selling links.

.......I am :D That's right. But in your case, PR would be only secondary factor. You got a unique niche directory, thus the primary selling point shall be different.

Moreover, I would bet most of your prospective clients don't have any clue about PR. They are just alternative healers looking for business exposure and more clients, no PR hunters that you would get if you had general directory.

Btw. mine PR2 is mind-body niche as well. Oh wait...only PR2 for both of us....Google doesn't like mind body field or what

No i guess they don't :( and i had a winge about about that on one of their forums the other day, fat lot of good it would do. PS Subseo apologies for not responding to PM, beeen reaaally busy with a Mind Body Spirit Event i am exhibiting at will respond in a few days petal

As for you Greg I am the Queen, oh master of twisting words :forgive:

Cougar, thats really irritating, you expect your sites to go up, not down! I had a 4 on my web design site and it went down to a 3 :( and yes would be nice if Google used Pr/keywords to raise the order of your site.

QueerSeek, online since 2000, was PR5 until this new update. I've dropped 1 to PR4 even though the # of link-backs has gone up.

I personally don't put much stock in the PR ranking because everything I read tells me Google doesn't use the PR# at all when ordering the sites it displays.

PR is just a link popularity contest, it has nothing to do with the ammount or quality of content on a site. In order to increase your PR you need to do a bit of link building (submitting your site to free directories and submitting articles to article directories is a good start). Yahoo only reports 14 links pointing to your domain which is very low.

Mine stayed the same as before the update (PR6)

Bless you petal! Thank you for the kind words..

No the design is all mine, took months to perfect and even then i could and do find something to tweek :o As it is the directory drives me silly as there are lots of HTML errors so can't validated it with out spending lots of time on it..and this is a strange thing too, in firefox i see my home page and other non directory pages are validated, but in IE they are not! Which is blinking annoying.:threat: As for pagerank now have rank 3 and 2 for directory not bad after few months i guess, and yes finally the traffic has come along lots from esyndicat, thanks guys and gals! :kiss:But also from a lot of hard campaigning via emails and even attending shows! They are fun tho :D

Dkessaris, yes i agree it is a popularity contest, but that is how i will earn my bread and butter when mine is nearer the top, and that only comes when you are recognised by google, yes people use other search engines, but the term 'google it' doesn't exist for nothing. I will get there, i have no doubt, already in the last few months my unique visitors has grown from 900 a month to over 4000, from the beginning of Oct to yesterday i had just under 3000 so based on that it is doing well even without masses of links..

Anyway, its was not how much pagerank I had that i minded about, it was the absolute effort involved and getting none in the first place even with those links which seemed to take ages to get a rank! Where other sites i had built only took a few months with no effort involved. Anyway i am not complaining i am happy it's progressing at a good speed.

As for links yes i could fill up my directory with lots of harvested links, but its not the amount really coz most of them could be lousy, and they may not link back to you anyway, in my opinion its the quality that counts and that is what i am trying to establish, a long term directory that is based on sound ground.

My site has been online for 6 years. I HAD a PR of 5, but since switching to this link script, it's now a 4. Not sure if it's worth it.

Why would you think PR to be connected with a script you use? I had site online for three months or so, and got PR5 just because I acquired one PR7 link for that. Nothing else, just one link.

The only reason that comes to my mind would be, if you had another script that was indexed in Google, but transfered to eSyndicat, paths for all cats etc. changed, and Google didn't manage to index everything in time for it to have influence on PR.

Apart from that, PR is really just for fun. I have seen sites that by all means should have been PR6-7, established sites, yet they were PR4. (Well....in latest update, they jumped up.....but the number of links didn't increase much, they had tens if not hundreds thousands links even before).

I like the way you said it :good: and absolutely agree.

Positions in SERPs and how is your pages convert the visitors to the buyers this what is important. I have sites with PR2 that brings a lot of money and sites with PR6 that brings nothing. :)

pagerank is actually very important factor, that really drives people to submit their links to your directory, as I said it is one of the factors & not the only factors...

I got a Pr2 in a month since by my site was Online...
