I purchased a $125 license for this script back in May of this year.
When I bought the script, it seemed like it needed quite a bit of small fixes, especially related to work flow. All pretty simple stuff, like being able to open previewed sites in a NEW BROWSER window.

However, there have been ZERO new releases to address any of the problems.

Also, making it easier for link partners to submit their site data by having a simple meta tag reader once they submit the domain to fill in the form for them.

My questions is: Are any updates planned? or is this what I'm stuck with?

Sorry you're not happy, but the script does function as it's described.

There are lots of mods to the script that people want, and that's part of the problem. You want a, b and c, someone else thinks c's no use and they want d, e, and f, which are no use to you. Me, I think a, b, c, d, e, and f are not as important as x, y and z.

As for ZERO new releases since May, how many do you want?
There may not have been an official release but if you try looking through the forum and I'll bet you can find well over a hundred mods/updates/fixes that have been undertaken after requests from members.

I'd be interested to know if the functions you describe above available with any other directory script?

On a personal note, I'm disappointed my wife's not a 6'2" blonde with big bazoomas, but that's life!

microlinx,

I am sorry you are not happy.

But as it stands eSyndicat is one of the best.

And for the issues you have.

I am not sure about parsing the meta tags.
(I like that option myself)

but link open in a new window is an admin side option you can check.

And if you have others, we will be happy to try to help you if we can.
If no one can answer your questions, we can put them in the feature requests.

If you find the options you are mentioning on another script please refer to the script so, we can look at them as well.

Not wanting to hurt you but if you see $125 is not a big amount for an unlimited domain license. I paid $149.00 (you got a deal)
And this is the best script and the cheapest for the price.

Thanks
Sai

Hi,
I'm really sorry that you are disappointed with our software. Anyhow, we are planning to release a new version in October. I can assure you it will be much better than current version is.

Simon,

Any clues on how the new version is going to be or what the new version features are?

Thanks

Will the new release address the Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability as announced on Security Focus? http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/20106

Hey guys, you can remove this post now...
I can now say I am quite happy with the script, and although it took a while, the release of 2.0 is welcomed! Now I can use the umlimited license I purchase 6 months ago to add the script on my other sites. The old version was just not worth spending the time installing on multiple sites, hence my initial disappointment.

Hope to see a seamless upgrade grade option soon.

Good Job!

Thanks!
PS, I am just completeing the install and added my first link on a virgin site and it looks great so far! The only thing I am still dis'ed about is the lack of a one click preview of the submitted URL and Recip URL on the Edit page.
I'll open a support ticket and suggest for 2.1 or a patch.

That's really nice you like our script now. We do work hard to make it better and better. Now new versions will be released more often.
Sure, all your recommendations how to improve the script will be greatly appreciated

Why is that is it cause i bought it ? :dance2: :dance2: .

Plus to be frank i fear new releases cause it breaks your templates and other stuff which means more hours of editing. So next time can you just increase the features but not tamper with templates. :yahoo:

Yeah, now we can afford to hire some more programmers :)

About templates, that's real problem. It's quite hard to implement new functionality without templates modification. You know our script is quite young it's just some more than one year and we still try some various ways of our templates implementation. It's quite serious problem for us and we pay really great attention to it.

After 2.1, I'm back to my old opinion.
Why would you remove useful functions (like the manual link recip checker)
It looks like you are trying to automate it using cron, which doesn't work right.
I am on a dedicated server and have full control. Many other scripts with no problems, except this one.

The bugs and the need to patch UPDATES, really steams my clams.

It's getting worse!

Hi microlinx,
We checked the cron and it does checks for broken links. please turn to John Turner for help as he is responsible for cron improving. I really missed functionality to check links manually. This will be done.

I think you have checked the code and you see how many changes have been made in our 2.1 version. There were too many core changes but now our software is much faster. Then, we have released two patches which contain major bugfixes and we will release more if we need. After all the bugs are fixed (I think we will have one more patch) we will start working on a new functionality. So I do not think you did wrong when you chose eSyndiCat Pro.

Simon:

Upgrades are fine, so long as they work. Patches, especially MANUAL patches, where I have to go edit the code myself, are really, REALLY annoying. The script is so unstable and requires so much attention that I am considering removing it from my server. My PR has dropped from 5 to 4 with only 100 links.

For some reason, when I go to Google sitesmaps, they are counting THOUSANDS of links. Add that to a real pile of bugs.
