Categories dropdown?

Not sure how this works.

I'm using GreenLeaves, but when I enable "Categories dropdown instead of tree" I don't notice any changes to the page display, perhaps I'm not looking in the right place, mainly becasue I don't know what to expect. I was expecting the the right sidebar categories menu become a drop down, anyway that's what I'm interested in doing; any suggestions please?

I get this message: sam123, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

As far as I understand if I purchased the product for $149 then I should own a licence for the pro version; correct?
