HI
I thought I would share this, and ask what everyone thought.
2 or more years ago I exchanged links with 5 Sisters Cards and Stationery and had a satisfactory partnership for a long time. After some manual checking in the early months I got used to the links being 'good'
Having swapped to eSyndiCat and experimented with the beta broken-links-cron I was a little surprised to find this partner flagged as a broken link.
So I did the manual check and sure enough got the reply "Header is unknown please check manually". I 'edited' the link and discovered the link-to-them was http://www.5sisters.co.uk/index.htm?source=finespeeches.com Ah Ha! I thought the test cant cope with the ?source= bit.
But now I am not sure, because if I click the link I get to a valid web page - it is just NOTHING to do with the original wedding stationery site! and I certainly have no interest in linking to the site.
I wonder why the check said the link was broken, when there was a live web page at the otehr end?
Does anyone else find that the subject matter of the partner site changes?
If so how do you control / check that the content of your link destinations has not changed?
regards
Mark
