:yahoo: I have found a great sitemap generator. Trust me when I think its great I mean easy to use too. I have been searching for a few days trying to figure out how to make a site map. I even tried to use the one google suggest. Well everything just was to confusing or to hard for a simple person like me. Guess what! I just created my sitemap and submitted it to google all in under twenty minutes. Ok well this is starting to sound like a sells pitch so I guess I'll tell you the link. sitemapspal.com (http://www.sitemapspal.com)
Tell me what you think.
Simon promised to include sitemap and yahoo urllist generators in the new pro version

Thanks for the link and welcome to our support forums, xanthonyx
Looks really simple. WTM is right. We have already included this feature in our next version so eSyndiCat 2.0 will have built in sitemap generator.

Hi all, try the one at Softswot on 2 templates, one is Green Leaves and Fire&Ice. There is a problem with Green Leaves as it cannot produce any sitemap. Tried another one the result is the same, only 1 or 2 links. Fire&Ice works well with softswot and it picked up most of the links, BUT not the directory with the ending "/". That is to say the sitemapper can pick up the "suggest-category.php?id=0" and "*.html" but not the "http://site.com/directory/".
Just some feedback.

Gosh xanthoyx wish you had found this a week ago! when this simple minded person had to figure out how to do it manually ..after i download some software, which only realise later it was a trial, scarery stuff when it reached the 800th page of my site +plus directory, alas i was damn disappointed when it only gave me 6 of those links.. never mind, i managed manually, and even taught my hubby how to do it on his site! Which is quite funny coz he's a software developer..hee heee. :D
Never mind i will have a gander at it and maybe use it in future. :good:

Welcome to our support forums, Jovi
Please try to add the following code to your .htaccess file. It's possible it can help to index your site.com/directory
# correct urls for yahoo bot
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\..+$
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/$
RewriteRule (.*) %{REQUEST_URI}/ [R=301,L]

Howdy all! Some of you probably dont know that the latest Links Wizard 3 update has a completly free and limitless Google Sitemaps XML generator. Its fast, free, bugless feature that can generate XML and HTML sitemaps for your site, your neighbors site, or any site.
Got couple hundred thousand of pages to map? Leave it ON overnight, it wont ever timeout on you. Robots do what you tell them to do. This one does a little bit more than that ;)
Ok well this is starting to sound like a sells pitch so I guess I'll tell you the link.
xanthonyx, welcome to the forums! Have you tried eSyndiCat directory yet?
P.S. I promise not to advertise here again.

I didn't have much luck with any of the suggested solutions as I kept on getting errors. I finally typed "sitemap generator" into google and the first result sorted me out.
Go to http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp
It's a java applet and works like a dream. Generates an xml file and a txt file.

I just installed it but am wondering if I've set it up properly because the readme file says to type in this URL: http://www.ultimate-haunted-houses.com/dir/sitemap.php
and when I do that, I get a 404 error.
However, when I take out the /dir/ and just type in: http://www.ultimate-haunted-houses.com/sitemap.php, it does return some info (a correct sitemap?). Just want to be sure this is ok so Googlebot will find it and index properly. Thanks.

That sounds strange. I've just checked your site. Directory home is in /dir/ but pages like Top and Popular links omit the /dir/ part.
Anyway, the generated sitemap seems to be ok.

The error means you didn't read the readme.txt in the package carefully.
Please log into eSyndiCat account, go to Downloads >> Mods & Patches, and download Google Sitemap package. Unpack it and read the aforementioned file.

To all,
I'm not sure if Google requires sitemap name to be sitemap.xml
If this is the case you can add the following rule into your .htaccess file:
RewriteRule ^sitemap.xml$ sitemap.php [QSA,L]
And point Google to sitemap.xml, not sitemap.php

Thanks, Vincent! Good to know my sitemap is working properly.

To all,
I'm not sure if Google requires sitemap name to be sitemap.xml
If this is the case you can add the following rule into your .htaccess file:
RewriteRule ^sitemap.xml$ sitemap.php [QSA,L]
And point Google to sitemap.xml, not sitemap.php Actually, shouldn't this line be:
RewriteRule ^sitemap.xml$ google-sitemap.php [QSA,L]
???
This is the line that works on my setup, because the filename is google-sitemap.php. By the same token, this rule should work for the Yahoo urllist.txt sitemap:
# mod_rewrite rule for Yahoo sitemap
RewriteRule ^urllist.txt$ yahoo-feed.php [QSA,L]
This will make it a lot easier updating these sitemaps, because they'll always be current when they're called, right? So now I don't have to be constantly updating sitemaps because it's automatic. At least I think this is correct.

Well, if you are using Pro 1.2 and installed the Sitemap package it should be sitemap.php.
In the Pro 2.0 we changed the rules as you describe.

Create Sitemaps for google using " http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ " and submit to Google.
For submitting to Google use the link below.
Google Site Map
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/siteoverview
In the case of esyndiCat Directory software no need of generating sitemap using above mentioned site. Its a builtin future.

Ok, please post this issue in our bugs section and the guys will investigate the problem. You can check our demo it and you can see it works fine. I think there could be a personal problem. Try to reupload the file - google-sitemap.php. Pay attention to software versions.
