Pro Version - Problem with Links

I got everything set up (Thanks Simon!), went to my links page and attenpted to add a link. It's telling me that "free" is not an option and that I am only accepting paid listings and that the reciprocal link was broken (not what I want). So I tried again ran a test on the paid listing and put the reciprocal link on a test page all by itsself. It liked to be paid, but still told me the reciprocal link was broken. I looked everything over again (being a newbie) and I can't find where I went wrong.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

In the admin panel:

1. configurations/financial configuration disable "only sponsored accepted"
2. configurations/link checking disable reciprocal link checking
