Hi Simon,

About documenting information that will be regularly/frequently needed by new users:
are you the one to ask this?

Please could there be a sticky message in the installations forum which tells people what patches or updates are needed - for example I had been reading the forums for hours before I realised that patch 1.2.1 was necessary rather than optional.

It could be something a simple as:

AS at 27 July 2007:
IN addition to the file currently available for download these updates are necessary for the proper functioning of eSyndiCat:
1...
2..
3...

These updates are optional
1 ... only of you wan to ...
2 ... only if you want to ...

Then when things change a new message:

AS at 27 AUG 2007:
IN addition to the file currently available for download these updates are necessary for the proper functioning of eSyndiCat:
1...
2..
3...
4...
5...

These updates are optional
1 ... only of you wan to ...
2 ... only if you want to ...

So long as each message was a comprehensive explanation of what was needed in addition to the currently available download. -

I wonder how many problems and forum questions this would automatically resolve?

(whats that 3? three questions? ) :) well then it may not be worth it

any way food for thought
regards
Mark

Good idea Mark. :)
And that also should be on the download page.
