i have a question about the free version of eSyndiCat script

When someone want a "featured" link and wants to pay.

Is payment only available in the Pro version?

Or is it also available in the free version?

Not used the free version but if you open your admin panel and look down to bottom in the LINKS section it will be there if it's available.

If you a directory good enough for some one to pay you, it is good that you can get a pro version.
