Hello
I am working through an install and configuration of Ver 1.2 and as I learn about something I am keeping a record of what I learn as a case study. As it will contain information of things "I wish I had known before I had to sort it out myself" I am hoping that once complete it will also provide a useful reference.
As I learn about them I am writing up notes on the Program Configuration Options and it is this I would like your help with.
Sometimes I do not understand the options at all, more normally I think I know about them but I may be wrong :)

PLEASE read my draft notes and
* Tell me if you think I have made a mistake.
* Tell me what else you think should be said about an option:

DRAFT Program Configuration Options
Subject - Create / Edit Categories

1 Create / Edit Category

One of the big advantages of eSyndiCat is that it is possible to design the web pages which display links so that they are search engine friendly.

These fields when creating or editing categories are critical to achieving good search engine rankings.

1.1 Category Path

A Short Description of what the option is aboutThis is the name of the category; it’s title.

A Long Description of what the option is aboutThis field is called category-path because whatever name you choose here will be added to the values you have entered for other fields to create a complete url-path in the browser address bar of visitors to the links directory.

How does this option affect the: [n/a]
Visitor to the links directory:
It effects what a visitor sees as information in the address bar of their browser

Link Partner [n/a]

You as administrator [n/a]
It effects what a search engine considers to be the url location of your category

What other options are affected by this option’s settingOther fields used in conjunction with this field:
- Base url to site
- Directory where eSyndiCat is installed

What is a Recommended settingYour choice

Other NotesSearch engines supposedly pay some attention to filenames. Therefore having keywords in filenames may be beneficial. As a whole url actually specifies a filename, by choosing your category names you can build up category path names which include your keywords.

Case Study:
- General-Configuration: Base url to site = http://www.sparklingspeeches.com
- General-Configuration: Directory where eSyndiCat is installed = /wedding-resources/eSyndiCat_Pro_v1.2/
- Category path = eg = wedding-transport

What appears in the address bar:
http://www.sparklingspeeches.com/wedding-resources/wedding-transport
or
http://www.sparklingspeeches.com/wedding-resources/test1-title/test1-1-title/

[?] will this always appear in the browser? Or have I seen something to alter this effect?
