Well, looks like I gotta find a new host provider because Godaddy does not allow cron jobs on shared hosting. I would have to get a dedicated server for that which ain't gonna happen just yet. :wallbash:

Any suggestions on good hosting?

I think there is no need to purchase dedicated hosting package. The majority of shared hosting plans allow to run cron jobs.

Another good host that supports cron jobs and unlimited sites under one shared plan is hostgator. I use them and have 14 sites now under one $10 a month plan. Link is in my sig for them.

I'm an eSyndiCat newbie and want to install my directory on a GoDaddy account. What exactly does the cron job do and is it optional? Thanks.

Cron jobs run in the background and check for several things. Namely:

1. Check broken links
2. Check reciprocal links
3. Update PageRank

If you can live without these things you can use GoDaddy.com hosting.
