Hi all... I am a little confused as to what "Available for visitors only" means in the broken links checking, reciprocal links checking and duplicate links checking section of the newest pro version. Anyone have a clue as to what these mean?

Hi
If you have this option enabled link checking will be disabled for admin. If it's disabled link checking will be enabled when admin submits a link.

I'm glad to explain :)
Hi Simon

I see, but what exactly does the program do with broken-link checking?
Yesterday I had it enabled, but the only effect was that I (as an admin) could not add a valid(!) link. After saving it just did not enter it into the link-collection, without a message about an error or something like that.
Has cron.php something to do with that? That is not working for me as mentioned here:

Hello Lars!
Please check if your hosting has allow_url_fopen enabled. You can check this in your admin panel -> server info

yes, allow_url_fopen is "on" for "local value" and "master value".

"Broken Links Checking" functionality works perfect in your directory! The only thing I did is chose HTTP headers that are valid (200, 301).

Ahh thanks, I see. Now it makes sense that I could not add a valid link because I had forgotten to choose the valid HTTP headers. Perhaps it is a good idea to add a message in the next version in such a case, because the behaviour of the script was just do nothing, but leaving the add link window.
But my main problem still appears:
I now think I have understood that this broken link checking has nothing to do with cron.php, where broken links within the directory can be checked. But this is still not working for me as mentioned here:
http://www.esyndicat.com/forum/about5992.html
Now I hope that I am also missing only one small thing to get it working.
Can you help me, Nick?
Greetings
Lars

I haven't found any settings related to cron jobs configuration at you server control panel. So I can not show the path to cron.php for cron tabs. Ask your hosting company about cron settings via control panel.

Hi Nick!
Interesting.
If I would like to run cron.php manually (which would be enough for me!): Is it also necessary then to set some cron-job settings or not?
I already have used cron.php manually, and I saw something working, but without results.
If yes, what kind of cron-job settings are necessary to be discussed with my hosting company?

Hi Nick,
my hosting says that they will configure the cron (they will check before they let crons run on their servers).
Is there more for me to do then telling them that I want cron.php running e.g. four times every day?
Please remember: manually running of cron.php has no results, but I do not understand if that is a normal behaviour and with cron-settings set that will change?!
Greetings
