If I upgrade to the Unlimited Liscense, and build more then one site, deciding later to sell one is this within my license rights?

Thanks, God Bless

Hi,

This is just a personal opinion and not in anyway a representation of official policy from eSyndicat. Simon and the rest of the staff will speak for the company.

I guess you have the right to sell whatever you created. Personally, what you may sell cannot include the license rights to the (eSyndicat links directory) software. I think the license right is not transferrable. [The new owner of the link directory site (that you plan to sell to) would have to buy his/her own eSyndicate links Directory software. If this is what you meant and intend to do, then I see no problem.

However, I think it will be stretching your license rights a bit, if what you have in mind is also a "transfer of the links directory software license. [I hope not, and I hope I misunderstood. And, I am sorry, in case I am off-tangent.]

If the license to the software is also transferrable, in the transaction you implied, then a person can create unlimited dummy links directories -- with minimal content and sell them. If that is the case, then eSyndicat will not even be able to recover their labor and other costs to create the software.

If you wish to play safe, why not stick with the use the Pro-version for the stuff you wish to keep for yourself and use the "Free Software" for stuff you may plan to sell in the future. It will protect you from potential legal liabilities -- from your buyer in case (s)he charges you of misreprentation) -- especially if you live here in the US.

Thanks Guaan. Yeah, it has been awhile. I decided to upgrade my webhosting service account and that has taken most of my time. It looks like I have to relearn everything again with the eSyndicat. So many changes both in the new script and on the board.

How have you been doing?

Glad to know you are your usual cheery self guaan.

Yeah, I saw that. I think before I went in hibernation again, I told you that I chose Reality for the familyl website links directory. I like its simplicity and even want to make it simpler so that it will blend much better with the new format of my main webpage.

According to Greg, in another post, most of the skin template modules have not been updated for new version yet. I wonder if there is a way to decouple the skin template modules from the version. I tend to revise mine drastically and that would mean having to revise it everytime there is a change.

I created a photogallery site, and there is a module there that would allow me to place photos into other sites, perhaps even the links directory since it is in php format mostly -- it should accept the script for photo streams from my photogallery. The photos would be one way of integrating the links directory with the other parts of my website.

This would mean rethinking the whole layout of the links directory too. I may seek your advice on that later on since you are one of the expert skin makers here.

Crossweb, back to your original question. I am in the same position as you, I have an unlimited license and yes, the site can be transferred to a new owner if you use the Pro but the license cannot go. You need to get the new owner to purchase a new license.

I've just written to Simon to see if he could agree to give the new owner a discount or something.. but it is his call. :)

Hi,
cgc0202 and eddie2099 are both right. You can not resell your license without our permission. Besides, even if you have a multidomain license you can use the software for your sites, but in case you sell any of them your license can not be divided into several one domain licenses.

welcome back :)

I have been busy creating the "original content" using other application softwares that I wish to index with the eSyndicat links directory, and there are so many things to do there.

Everything goes back thought to sytematizing the links resulting from the created pages and integrating those with outside links.

I just started looking at the new version. I have not explored all of the features yet but there are some very significant changes from the previous version. I feel like starting from the basics again, after being away for a long time.

guaan:

I decided to try the new Green Leaves to check the new features since the new version does not work with the old "Reality", for some reason. When I have more time, I may seek your help on both.
