View Full Version : Suddenly can't create links!

Hi Guyz,
I created 1 link as the public would, then 7 more links through the admin control panel. The next control panel link was not saved, and likewise the other 2 or 3 i tried. They just revert back to the add link page, with the data i just entered displayed.
A silly mistake? Don't know. I did simple tests (with more than the minimum 10 characters in the description and no punctuation).
What should i do?

Hi jimcoe!
Have you migrated any links or categories? Have you transferred your script to another server?

Nope. It's pretty weird.
It was working, then it was not. I didn't do anything in between. Made the edits recommended here, but it was working after that. Also tried several settings changes in the Config part of the control panel, but only after the failure.
Just tried it again, it being several hours after the failure, and still no good. So i don't think it's a temporary glitch at my web hosting service.
I can still add categories, just not links. I'l have a look in the files i edited, especially 'suggest-link.tpl'.
Just tried commenting out the line we added to 'suggest-link.tpl' - no difference.

I have just tested your directory and found that it works fine. Take a look at my test submission via admin panel here: Vue Terrains. Let me know if you still have problems.

Thanks Nick.
I see what i was doing wrong now.
When i tried linking from outside the control panel, i got useful error messages that very clearly indicated 2 problems.
But doing the same from inside the control panel simply displays the entry page again, with no errors, no nothing - so i thought it wasn't working.
I was making 2 mistakes:
1. Not entering a submitter's email.
2. Submitting the same URL again to the same category.
Good news is it was working all the time :applause:
Bad news is no lack of error messages from inside the admin control panel
Anyway, back to work a bit wiser...
