welcome to the forums :)
do not forget to login before posting

by default you are not able to add links in root categories. Besides we have a LOCK CATEGORY feature. You can simply lock category where you do not want links to be added. You can find this feature in your admin panel. Just go to necessary category you want to be locked and click on lock category on the top. After that visitors can not be able to suggest links to this category.

I think he was talking about adding links in parent categories that have child categories. So if you had categories like this:

Sports > Basketball

You could add links in the Basketball category, but not in Sports. I think it's a good idea, and I would like to try it.

well, then I think the best way is to lock categories

So, locking a category does not lock the subcategories underneath it?

no, you just lock your current category. hmm, but I like your idea - to give possibility to choose if the script should lock one category or subcategories as well.. already in todo list ;)

Since i've locked the main categories, the total links beside each category name > (0) So i want to delete it and wonder which file allowed us to do that? :P

Happy Holidays everyone

Hi Altoids :)

Do you have an online site we could look at? Kinda hard to tell by just that pic.

If you want to hide the link count. (not sure if that's what you're asking?)

You can go to in admin panel:
Configuration
Page Navigation and Listings
Number of links display next to category
then choose disabled
and save changes

Thanks alot Greg,

You've answered my 2nd question :-) The image I've attached is the broken table border. Look at the orange vertical line u'll notice it . It's working fine on other browsers such as oper and firefox. If you have IE browser, you can test it out if it has the same problem as i do

It's really hard to solve that border problem without seeing it (the code) I'm guessing it's a (css) issue with width or padding" Just a guess :?:

Are you only on localhost now or do you have it online? If you don't want to post the link here email or pm me, and I'll take a look at it. :)

if we used tables we would not have problems  The main problem is - IE does not understand divs and especially float style like mozilla firefox does :(

Yes, there's a lot of tweaking goes on to force IE to behave like a "real" browser. We can only hope some of that need disappears if they ever release IE7 (um. was supposed to be JULY, right? Which year? Which CENTURY?)

I do believe that "vista" is out though, which has IE7 included, unless I'm breathing space....

he :) I already had a chance to see IE 7.. no great feelings, no excitement.. I did not see any changes in core.. at least correct css code is displayed like in previous version
