submitting the link

i need to solve this problem very quickly and i'm very thankful for every answer message
I have a big problem... well not i but my friend
he does not no much about php scripts and cms and his internet connection is on strike so he asked me for help but i can't help him...
i think it is a bug in the software. He uses esyndicat 2.1.03
when he submitts a link the user front does not show the link in the category...
He uses the search and he finds the link...
There is no number of links in brackets beside of the name of the category. and when you want to click onto the category this error message is displayed
Error: Requested URL not found (404)
I don't know what the problem is...
