I'm looking into copying a very large list of categories, no data or links yet, but don't want to manually re-enter this for a number of sites I'm working on. Whats the quickest and easiest way of doing that?

Just create a db dump of just your categories then import into your new directory.

It's not as clear as all that. Firstly there is no folder labeled "updates" so I assumed that the "uploads" folder was it. That wasn't the case so I created the updates folder, moved the file into it, and then the import saw the file. Also had to be sure there were no categories prior to import or else errors. Once everything was empty I could then import the file and everything was done.

no, this is about copying from one directory to another.

Yeah, I got it to work by trial and error. There is precious little hard documentation without scouring the forums over and over again, that gets old really fast, and it's something I hate since I have better things to do.
