3. Now you can check if the script is working properly. Open a URL similar to this:

http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/checksum.cgi?url=www.google.com
In the example above I used http://www.mydomain.com/dir/ as the base URL to eSyndiCat script. This URL is used in all the examples below. Thus, anytime you see such URL you have to substitute it with the actual base URL of your directory.
If you see the number like 63385224020 then the script is ok.

When i do this i do not see any numbers like above. It asks me if i would like to download a file named checksum.com which is in MS-DOS.
Any suggestions on what i need to do pls?

Hi braniacbrain,

You should place checksum.cgi into directory which supports Perl scripts execution (I think your hosting company is able to point you in this case) and change permission to it 755.

Hi John, would you possibly be able to go into my cpanel and have a look at this again? The checksum.cgi is in the directory cgi.bin and is also set to 755. Since I have changed teh path of teh cron i get the following error. "Could not open input file: linksdud/public_html/includes/cron.php" Could you have another go at retrying it, would be much appreciated. Now that the links issue has been fixed maybe it will start working :)
