Changing front page template only

Is it possible to change the front page of the directory only? What I mean by this is - I'd like to remove Adsense from the front page only and replace it with a set of image boxes and some text introducing the directory. All the rest of the directory will continue to carry Adsense.
I know I can make each category template unique - can I do this for the front page alone?
