This might be helpful for newbies installing to a new host account (no other data in account other than the default that the host providers puts there (i.e. public_html).
I used a slightly different approach than the installation instructions. I changed the chmod settings using the FTP program and did not use cpanel to alter chmod. 1. Added my domain in "manage domains" in esyndicat account area. 2. Downloaded esyndicat - the download goes into a folder with the name upload_ license# 3. Logged in to cpanel of my host account and added a folder in the public_html folder and named it "dir" 4. Used CuteFTP to copy (FTP) files from upload_license# to host folder name "dir" (Tools-->Folder Tools-->Synchronize Folder then select "mirror local - make the remote side just like the local. This copies all of the contents from the local upload_license# folder to the host "dir folder. 5. After files were uploaded, I opened "dir" folder, found the folders and file that needed a chmod change (see installation documentation), did a right click on them and got a drop down selection for chmod. You just click all the boxes (read, write, etc) to get the 777 value. Note install doc references ad "ads" folder. Download did not have a folder named "ads" so I just ignored it. 6. I used cpanel to build mysql data base, added a user and then authorized the user (at first I thought adding a user to the db that I built was sufficient- but you have to also authorize the user you registered). NOTE - my host prefixes the database name with my account name, so the data base name for esyndicat install was not the name I entered when I build it (i.e database), its real name was accountname_database). Its the same for the user name (i.e user1's real name for esyndicat install is accountname_user1). You have to use these prefixed names when installing esyndicat. 7. Went to browser and entered http://www.mydomain.com/dir/install 8. Eureka - it worked |

Hello,I just purchased the new release links script and I am having problems installing it. Seems like some files are missing; after I downloaded the zip folder from the site and unzipped it, the system tells me that there are hidden files. I tried to install it but after having done everything, I was not able to see anything on the page, it shows just blank page and I ended up deleting all the files on the directory and let you guys do it for me. I have already sent the necessary info to support and waiting for their response. My question is: Is anyone having this kind of problem with the script eSyndiCat_v2.2.RC? Because I realize that this one is not like the first one I got from this site: eSyndiCat_Pro_v2.1.03 Regards MG

Suggest that you remove Mike's PM details on the first page of this forum
http://www.esyndicat.com/forum/priva...o=newpm&u=8261. This way newbies like me don't wait around for a few days wondering why they don't get an answer. |

Hello,
I tried to install my directory but I had some problems. Could you re-install my directory one more time? What would I have to do? delete all of the esyndicat files... thank you, danilo. |
