There are a few strategies for this:
1: Stemming Use the foremost keyword for the page to generate subsidiary and tertiary keywords. Put the first 3 or so surrounded by the title marker, and put the 12(ish) keywords contained by your keyword tag. 2: Keywords + Branding Use 2 keywords in the title flap and fall the strip near "from your company". It's expendable to use your own brand within the keyword label. 3: Shotgun method: Use your leading keywords to form the core keywords, consequently use goings-on keywords approaching "buy x", or "x for sale", afterwards use messaging keywords approaching "best x" or "x contained by bulk". This will cover most of the user survey intentions. 4: Simple method Out of 12 (ish) keywords use the top three search keywords that are relevant (you can use the keyword popularity tool on G00GLE or Yahoo). Then cart the 3 keywords at 75% frequency, next 50% afterwards 25%. This will cover your basis to seizure the giant significance query language as capably as the smaller search expressions to drive traffic. It'll pinch time to drive traffic from the lofty stratum keywords, but you should procure impartially short occupancy results from the lower plane ones. Last edited by Greg; 08-19-2010 at 08:15 PM. I have noticed that dispite google saying they don`t use the description tag that website with the keywords in the description tag DO show up more that if they are not in there. Keyword tag might be out. But try using your keyword in you TITLE, DESCRIPTION and PAGE CONTENT. Also use relevent alt tags for you images. Use <H1>, <H2>, <H3> <b> <strong> tags for the keywords within the page content. I have been working on a site for a little over a month and have number 1 positions for over 100 keyword phrases.
I would`t read to much into page rank either. (It will come down the track) I am no means a SEO Expert. (which alot claim to be) But i do get results without paying someone to do it for me. take a look at brisbaneconcrete.com.au (now they have a backlink for esyndicat.com) Better yet do a search for "brisbane concrete" on google. Have a look at there title, description and keywords. IE "view source" Blantley obvious how they are sitting at number 1 for the term brisbane concrete. They are cheating google and will be caught at some point. (they try to sell exclusive advertising on that site) They proberly have many sites like this. Regards

Also i would still use the keyword meta tag as alot of other search engines do still use them and as we all know google does gather information from other search engines.

I am adamant about using descriptions, titles, alt texts, excerpts, ids, etc. but avoid using the meta keyword tag simply for the reason I don't want to over saturate my html with keywords as it should be more in my <title> <desc> and ultimately supported by my content and not the keyword tags, but I don't discount the use of them so long as they're not stuffed and they're relevant to the page and its content.

Doesn't matter, having too many or too few won't score against you on any SE. They'll just take what they need.

I am sure that this blog will be of immense help to people who want to improve their site rank and position but were not familiar with the ways and means of doing it. The information provided here will certainly help them in this regard. I would like to point out that Google is no longer using the keyword meta tag in web search. Matt clearly points it out in the video. But other search engines like Yahoo continue to use keywords.

That is correct. So using keywords still has advantages with google. IE google does use other search engines to gather information and backlinks. So if using keywords ranks your site higher on these other search engines it will help your google rankings.
Alot of my sites are ranked using the keyword metatags. Google might not use them but the google results do rank my sites for keywords in the meta keywords. I guess for the results of other search engines. Just my 2 cents. |
