Default Shorter Urls for Listings Better for SE?

I am currently working in demo mode and getting ready to go live with a paid for eSyndicat directory.

The urls for the individual business listings are extremely long.

A listing which is within a category and subcategory shows like this:

http://directoryofchester.net/demo/B...airs-l788.html

This seems awfully long for the search engines.

From what I understand mrCutts recommends no more than 5 words in a url.

Is there a way to shorten this easily?

Can anyone assist on this as it is obviously important.

Many thanks

I'm missing something here
Have you purchase a license for the pro-version?

Does that make a difference to the answer?

Our sites are part of a group licence. I am not a site owner but work on the sites.

Yes it makes a difference. What user name purchased the script?
This question is also in the incorrect forum.

Thankyou Greg.

I have contacted our group to try and find out whether our package includes access to the pro area.

It may be that it is only the package owner has this and I am a long way down the line. Just trying to get the sites going and seeking advice.

I apologise as I seem to have offended and that was not my intention.

Any luck on contacting "package owner"? Do you have the user name yet?

Why thankyou!

Still a lot to do yet but thought we would try block heavy to see what sort of bounce we get.
