Has anyone come across this and can explain why it happens please
Google search 1 One simple web site 2 I search in google using "Farm shop devon" and get a listing of number one page one 3 Friend of mine exactly the same search gets page three 4 Only difference I can see is our IP address and geographic entry point to the internet are different. He is also using IE8 and I am using IE7 Oddly if I do the same search using chrome I get the same result he does page three. So my questions Is a google search result effected by IP / browser / geographic location? Any help you can give would be great. John Last edited by dstemper; 12-04-2009 at 06:02 AM. |

possibly not all google data centres are updated with the same infor for that website. you might possibly be connecting to seperate data centres.

Yes but what is strange is that if I use chrome browser I get the same result as my friend. So I am using the same connection on my computer the only difference is the browser. So what this suggests is that if I search with IE7 I get one result but if I search from the same computer with chrome I get a different result. This suggests that the search criteria is to some extent browser specific. That would be very strange if true ![]() Last edited by John10; 07-25-2009 at 07:05 PM. Reason: email alert |

Probably it is due to Google geography based search engine data center variation.

google gives preference to geographic location.
