How to prevent choossing ROOT

Hi,
I am using version 2.2.03 of eSyndicat.
How can I prevent visitors to choosse the ROOT category while suggesting a link?
I did try to lock the ROOT category, but than all under the ROOT categories are locked.
I want to display only the categories that can be choossen.
