1) Paypal is one that really need enhanced.
2) Make it easy to add Plans - Sponsored, Free, Free with Reciprocal etc.
-- This need some attention.
3) make sure we can see the description of the listing in admin.

4) Add a Pagerank updater tool, that we can use from our desk top and update the records. when cron had issues this would help. (Separate app would do)

Thanks

Will the upgrade from 2.1 be as complicated as the last upgrade? I didn't upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1 as a result. I was just about to start rebuilding a new directory using 2.1.03 and may hold off doing so if I'm going to be in the same position again. Does modular support mean modules within esyndicat; or that esyndicat can be plugged into Joomla as module?

Hello. You're right. Most requested features (1,2,3) will be in the next PRO version.

Hello. Unlike with prev. version we'll not release the version until migration tool be ready.

We will play great attention to migration from previous versions.

However, unfotunately, the codebase of the upcoming version gonna be conceptually different from previous version. If you have custom modifications unfortunately they'll not be available in PRO (unless those mods are listed in todo list).

eSyndiCat PRO 2.2 gonna be integrative and also support its own modules.
In particular news, pages, polls modules will be rewritten as a seperate modules.

At this time we planned integration with vBulletin (at least regarding common userbase and authentication ,authorization). May be, also with other popular systems (it's all about the time).

You'll also be able to write your own authentication, authorization module to work with Directory Services like MS Acitve Directory(R) and all other software that support LDAP.

Good luck

I would suggest SMF (Simple Machines Forum) integration also

Shoot I thought awhile back Simon said the basic core (2.1) was going was going to used in all newer versions. But I may of misunderstood.

Greg

A good point - which I was about to post as well! Don't have an issue with improving the software, but I'm at the point where I may have to consider not using a standalone directory anymore (at least not for the site I currently run).

My site started life as just a directory but now it needs all the functionality of a portal - articles, forum, blog etc. so I have decided to use Joomla.

I was going to rebuild my esyndicat directory using 2.1.03 and template it as best I could to match my site. However the thought of having to go through a similar process again in a couple of months time; because it is not easy to upgrade (especially customizations), is putting me off.

I will have to either (1) Stick with 2.0.01, (2) Change to 2.1.03 and stick with it, (3) Wait for 2.2 or (4) Give up and use Mosets Tree within Joomla instead (not without it's issues either as Joomla 1.5 is due for release soon - so do I wait for that?).

Decisions, decisions!

I hope this is not seen as a moan; but these are genuinely difficult decisions, as I try to move from running my site as a hobby to a business.

Sorry, Greg for big delay in answering.

Yes it is really true. New pro will be based on the code base of 2.1 with significant improvements. I must clarify that the layout of the code and layout of the file structure gonna be changed while the main files (classes) stay untouched.
